HOPKINSVILLE, KY – Dogs and cats of all ages, breeds, sizes are waiting to be adopted at the Christian County Animal Shelter. The shelter is at 2935 Russellville Road, and the phone number is 270-887-4175. Business hours are Tuesday-Saturday from 10:30-4 p.m. and the shelter is closed for lunch from 12:30-1 p.m.
Here are two animals the shelter recommends this week for adoption:
Meet Scarlet. She is a 1 year old Calico DMH. She was brought to the shelter after being found as a stray, and is now on her search for her PURR-EVER home! Scarlet is CAT SELECTIVE, which means she won’t get along with all cats. We are unsure if she is good with dogs, children, or if she is even housetrained, due to the fact of her being a stray. But she is definitely worth a trial adoption to see if she would work out. Scarlet has been given her first round of vaccines and is FLV/FIV/HW NEGATIVE as of 10/19/2023. She has been spayed and brought up to date on vaccinations through the shelters spay neuter program. Scarlet’s adoption fee is $22.50.

Meet Marely. He is a 6 year old American Bulldog mix. He was released to the shelter because they were moving. Marely DOES NOT LIKE OTHER DOGS, so he will need to be in a home without them. However, he does great with cats. He also really enjoys having kiddos around to play with! Marley has is HOUSETRAINED and CRATE TRAINED. His favorite toys are balls. He really enjoys going for rides and get really excited about it. Marley has been given a round of vaccines, is HEARTWORM NEGATIVE as of 10/25/2023, and weighs 138 pounds. Marley is now awaiting his new FURR-EVER family to walk through that door. Marley’s adoption fee is $28.
The Christian County Animal Shelter recommends three additional pets this week.
Haven 12:10 Animal Sanctuary
Our handsome, golden-eyed orange Ross will brighten up any day!! One of four cats taken in after the big December 2021 tornado, he is still selling his forever family! He can be very shy at first, but once he opens up, Ross is a sweet affectionate gentleman. He and Tugger have become good buddies!! He will coexist pleasantly with dogs that are cat savvy and don’t want a lot of interaction, and as well with other cats when given space and time to get to know them. He’s neutered, about six years old and up to date on all his vaccines. If you have a willing and patient heart Ross will surely be your friend for life!

This week we welcomed Mr. Magoo to Haven 12:10 Animal Sanctuary! Having gone through multiple severe trauma incidents and neglect, Mr. Magoo is blind and sports plenty of scars, but they haven’t reached his heart! This approximately 6-year-old boxer mix is the sweetest boy! He adores people. He tends to go in circles to find his way, so he’ll need some leash training. He’s been fantastic with other dogs, and cats too. He should stay between 50-60 lbs. He tested heartworm negative, and all vaccines and preventatives have been brought up to date. His past injuries may have left him with some arthritis, but he gets around great and loves to romp. Mr. Magoo is a charmer and has will quickly steal your heart with his gentle affection and quirky ways! He loves people of all sizes! He has been surprisingly quick picking up housebreaking and crate training with only ONE accident on day one. He’s learning his environment and responding to verbal cues regarding stairs and obstacles. He LOVES soft warm cuddly beds. Mr. Magoo will make a wonderful addition for anyone seeking a gentle, loving, and fun companion!! He was a good boy at the groomer and even visited a local nursing home all dressed up in costume and was fantastic! Contact Haven to meet Mr. Magoo!
