HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – A 16-year-old girl crashed a stolen car after fleeing from police in Hopkinsville.
On June 2, Hopkinsville Police Department received a FLOCK hit of a stolen vehicle. Officers were able to locate it driving westbound on East Seventh Street, according to a police report. A traffic stop was attempted, but the driver fled southbound on Walnut Street instead of pulling over.
While evading police, the vehicle lost its front right tire after nearly crashing at a Marathon Gas Sation. HPD says that the vehicle continued driving erratically down Fort Campbell Boulevard, eventually wrecking in a McDonalds parking lot around 1 a.m. on Tuesday.
The driver was removed from the car, and it was discovered she doesn’t have a license. During a search of the vehicle, officers found a stolen handgun inside the center console. Other occupants in the car suffered from minor injuries during the chase.
The driver’s charges include receiving stolen property, fleeing police, possession of a handgun by minor, and wanton endangerment.
