HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – A high-speed chase on the Pennyrile Parkway led to the arrest of James Phillips Jr., who was wanted for the theft of a trailer and over $60,000 of equipment from the HCC Bud Hudson Football League.
On Sunday evening around 6 p.m., officers with the Hopkinsville Police Department were advised that the vehicle associated with the suspect was coming into the city. The car was located at Pembroke Road traveling at a high rate of speed, according to a police report.
He was pursued down the Pennyrile Parkway by patrol cars, and fled officers at speeds reaching 110 mph. Officers continued to follow the suspect down Fort Campbell Boulevard, where he drove on the wrong side of the road, nearly crashed into other vehicles, and disregarded traffic signals. The vehicle eventually crashed into a wooded area off of Casky Lane where he exited the vehicle. Officers continued the pursuit on foot until he was apprehended.
Meth was found in his possession, along with a glass pipe and firearm in the vehicle. The trailer was previously recovered, but the equipment has not been located. The man is facing several charges on top of the theft including reckless driving, evading police, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, and drug possession.
