HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – A Pembroke man was arrested after a police pursuit ended in a fast-food parking lot in Hopkinsville Monday afternoon.
On Dec. 1, officers with the Hopkinsville Police Department were attempting to locate William Webster, who had cut off his ankle monitor and made threats to harm officers. His vehicle was spotted on North Drive in Hopkinsville, and officers initiated a pursuit.
The 34-year-old suspect evaded officers on the roadway and eventually turned into the McDonald’s parking lot on North Drive after driving recklessly through traffic, according to an arrest report from HPD. Officers noted that several bystanders were in the area of the restaurant, so they attempted to stop his vehicle by striking the side of it with a patrol car. Webster continued driving through the parking lot, jumped a curb, and hit a parked car which caused damage to two other vehicles.
Refusing commands from HPD, the suspect was removed from the vehicle and was placed under arrest. During the arrest, officers say he yelled at bystanders and remained uncooperative. He was transported to the Christian County Jail and is facing several charges including assault of an officer, disorderly conduct, fleeing or evading police, wanton endangerment, criminal mischief, and resisting arrest.
