CHRISTIAN COUNTY, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – A multi-county and multi-agency police pursuit began in Madisonville Tuesday afternoon and ended in a crash on Interstate 169 in Christian County.

Trooper Thomas with Kentucky State Police Post 2 said troopers, the Christian County Sheriff’s Office, and the Hopkinsville Police Department assisted the Madisonville Police Department after the vehicle left the city limits.

The pursuit traveled from Madisonville with the suspect ultimately heading southbound on Interstate 169 (Pennyrile Parkway) in Christian County. According to Public Information Officer John Godsey with CCSO, the car ran off the road several times, avoided spike strips, and at one point drove in the direction of deputies who were mobilizing spike strips.

The pursuit ended on I-169 at the 11-mile marker when the driver lost control after deputies used a precision immobilization technique. The roadway was closed while the area was cleared.

The driver was taken into custody and Madisonville Police is continuing to investigate. Information about what initiated the pursuit has not been released at this time.
