HOPKINSVILLE, KY– Christian County Public Schools has announced the return of a traditional “Project Graduation” for all graduating seniors in Christian County. This year’s event will be held in collaboration with Christian County High, Hopkinsville High, Heritage Christian Academy and University Heights Academy’s graduating class of 2025. Project Graduation is tentatively scheduled for Friday, May 23 at the Planters Bank- Jennie Stuart Health Sportsplex in Hopkinsville.
“After conversations with our students and parents, we wanted to bring back the traditional Project Graduation that has been a beloved community-supported event for years,” said CCPS Superintendent Chris Bentzel. “We are excited to revitalize and enhance the event, ensuring it is better than ever for all graduates in Christian County.”
With a history spanning more than 30 years, Project Graduation has been a long-standing tradition providing a safe and fun way for graduates to celebrate. The event was canceled in 2020 and in 2021, adjustments were made to the event due to Covid. Subsequent years saw a decrease in student and parent participation. By restoring the event to a more traditional format, the district aims to renew interest with students and engage more parent participation.
Priscilla Kirby and Whitney Aldridge have been appointed as co-coordinators for the event. The first parent interest meeting will be held Monday, March 3 at 5:30 PM at the Christian County High School Media Center. Parents of seniors from all local area high schools, as well as community members interested in supporting Project Graduation, are encouraged to attend.
Donations are welcome to help make the event a success. A special Project Graduation account has been established, and monetary contributions can be sent to Christian County Project Graduation PO Box 291, Hopkinsville KY 42241.
