HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Two 21-year-olds were arrested early Monday morning after fleeing from Hopkinsville Police in a stolen vehicle.

On Jan. 19 around 3:45 a.m., HPD received a FLOCK hit of a KIA Soul stolen from Georgia at McLean Avenue. When officers were able to catch up with the stolen vehicle and initiate a traffic stop, the suspects fled at a high rate of speed, according to an arrest report.

HPD says the driver lost control near the intersection of Pembroke Road and the MLK Bypass while traveling 105 mph, resulting in them driving on the opposite lane of traffic. The pursuit continued and a PIT maneuver was attempted, which caused stolen vehicle to sideswipe a patrol car.

Multiple attempts were made to slow down the vehicle, with a successful PIT maneuver performed near Fort Campbell Boulevard and Crenshaw Boulevard. The suspect’s vehicle rolled multiple times and came to a stop in the median, with both of the suspects trapped inside.

The driver, 21-year-old Corey Johnson of Hopkinsville, was extracted from the vehicle and was cleared medically before being transported to the Christian County Jail. A female passenger, 21-year-old Brenda Oliver of Georgia, was also extracted and arrested, charged with theft of the vehicle.

Johnson is being charged with receiving stolen property, fleeing police, drug possession, and wanton endangerment among other charges. He also had a warrant for unpaid court costs.
