HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – The Hopkinsville Public Works Department announced a road closure downtown that will affect traffic for the next week.
CSX is closing East Seventh Street at the railroad crossing to upgrade the gate system. Repairs begin today and are expected to be finished on March 12. Drivers are encouraged to avoid the area and utilize alternate routes when possible.
This closure is happening simultaneously with a previously announced on street parking painting project. Single lane closures will be in place to allow staff to work and the paint to dry, according to the City of Hopkinsville. This project will take place on portions of South Main Street, Virginia Street, and East Ninth Street. On street parking will be unavailable during the painting, and traffic will be affected through March 8.
