HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – As a medical cannabis dispensary is set to be established in Oak Grove in 2026, a patient drive for medical cannabis certification cards will be held in the city to help those who qualify to begin the application process in person.

Medical cannabis was legalized in Kentucky this year, with initial steps taken across the state to begin establishing dispensaries, cultivators, processors, safety compliance facilities. In November 2024, Beshear, announced the results of the commonwealth’s first of two license lotteries for medical cannabis dispensaries, which included Mallard Club LLC in Oak Grove.

Oak Grove Mayor Jackie Oliver told Christian Conty Now the dispensary is currently in the early phases of construction off of Walter Garrett Lane.

What to expect at patient drive

During this first patient drive at the Oak Grove Community Center on Oct. 4, between 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. people can come in and talk with a licensed medical professional with KY Cannabis Solutions to receive information about medical cannabis cards and get a certification that will be used to apply for a card through the state.

This will be open to Kentucky residents over the age of 21 who have a documentation of a qualifying medical condition such as cancer, chronic pain, epilepsy, PTSD, multiple sclerosis, etc.
