CHRISTIAN COUNTY, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – As more local bakers get licensed to sell homemade goods, several have embraced the old-fashioned farm stand as a way to connect with the community. Christian County Now spoke with two separate farmstand owners on either end of the county who have put their heart and soul into various breads, muffins, cinnamon rolls and more.
A Little Flour and & Faith is a brand-new stand in Pembroke, while Honey Holler has been established in northern Hopkinsville since the start of 2026. Both are owned by women who tapped into their love for baking to offer people simple but delicious goods.
Meet two local farm stand owners in Christian County
Located on a long gravel road heading toward Crofton, Tawny Jenkins set up Honey Holler Farmstand as a way to have a creative outlet and bring in extra income. Instilled with a love of baking by spending time in the kitchen with her grandmother, she embraced her passion for it after her second child was born.
“There was a market for it because when I started, there was a lot of produce but there wasn’t a lot of baked goods farmstands,” she said. “It kind of just took off, it’s been amazing.”
Utilizing wood pallets, she and her husband built the stand in their front yard with patrons coming from Kelly, Crofton and even Madisonville to purchase sourdough muffins, cookies and breads. She stocks the stand once a week on Saturday’s and usually sells out pretty fast, although she does take custom pick up orders.
Way down at the other end of the county, Sierra Smith, owner of A Little Flour & Faith, got her start by baking for her friends and family with recipes that she learned from her mother over the years. She was encouraged by one of her kids to set up the stand and has been in operation for only a few weeks.
“I just felt that I needed a purpose,” said Smith, who is a mom of six girls and also works full time. Since launching the stand, she feels that she has perfected her cinnamon rolls, which is one of her favorite things to bake. She also stocks items like banana bread, pound cake and a variety of breads.
Her farmstand overlooks a few acres of corn on her property, with the actual stand constructed by local Amish builders. The stand is stocked Saturday mornings, with products available until they sell out.
Bakers in the commonwealth are able to pursue a Kentucky Home-Based Processor License which permits these “cottage bakeries” to produce and sell specific goods that are made in their residence. This includes items like certain baked goods as well as spices, preserves, produce, popcorn, jams and more. There are regulations in place limiting the gross income as well as compliance standards for hygiene and cleanliness.
Honey Holler is located at 8193 Madisonville Road, and A Little Flour & Faith is at 11100 Bell Chapel Road.
