HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – With temperatures expected to drop to dangerous lows in the area, The Salvation Army in Hopkinsville has activated White Flag conditions to ensure that no one has to endure the freezing weather without shelter. This special protocol allows the shelter to extend their normal capacity, offering a safe, warm environment for those in need.
White Flag conditions are initiated when temperatures are forecast to fall to severe levels or other severe weather conditions occur. During this time, The Salvation Army works to ensure that anyone in need of shelter has a place to stay.
Their White Flag shelter at 701 South Clay Street will be open from 7:00 p.m. on Jan. 3 through 7:00 a.m. each day the temperature drops below 25 degrees.
