HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – The Salvation Army of Hopkinsville will open their Extreme Weather Event Shelter as overnight temperatures are expected to drop Monday night.
On Dec. 1 from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. the old thrift store location at 701 South Clay Street in downtown Hopkinsville will be open to provide a temporary overnight warming station. This has been initiated as the temperature drops below 25 degrees. Additional beds will be set up to accommodate people escaping from the cold, with most of their usual requirements for staying at the shelter not applying during the extreme weather.
People seeking shelter should enter from the back of the building, no identification is required. For more information or to find out how to help, contact the shelter at 270-885-9633.
