HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – The driver of a pickup truck was severely injured after his vehicle hit an occupied school bus on Tuesday after school.
Just after 2:30 p.m. on March 31, Hopkinsville Fire/EMS responded to the area of Freedom Elementary School on North Drive for an accident involving a school bus. According to a news release, the bus had just exited the school grounds when a pickup truck collided with the front of the bus.
EMS says the crash caused the truck to travel over 150 feet before coming to rest in the school parking lot. The circumstances leading up to the crash are unknown. The bus was occupied at the time of the crash, but no injuries were reported by students or the bus driver.
The driver of the truck was transported via helicopter to a hospital for emergent internal injuries.
