HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – A Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued until 2 a.m. for Christian and surrounding Kentucky counties.
The Watch from the National Weather Service means that conditions are right for severe thunderstorms to form. If a severe storm is indicated, a Warning will be issued.

“The threat of storms will increase to a peak this evening, with all severe hazards in play,” the NWS said. “The greatest risk is for damaging winds, with large hail and tornadoes also posing potential risks. Frequent deadly lightning and locally heavy rains capable of sporadic flooding are also potential hazards.”

Here’s the outlook for the next 24 hours.
- Tonight: Showers and thunderstorms before 2am, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm between 2am and 5am, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 5am. Low around 55. South southwest wind around 10 mph becoming west after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 80%.
- Friday: A 30 percent chance of showers before 7am. Partly sunny, with a high near 67. North wind 10 to 13 mph, with gusts as high as 18 mph.
- Friday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 47. North wind 8 to 10 mph.
