HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – The Showbox movie theater is set to open Oct. 6 after extensive renovations and a long awaited grand opening.
The theater, originally named WK Cinemas, was purchased by Shane and Aubrie Pollock just before 2023. The theater, was then renamed The Showbox and it was set to reopen the first week of May.
However, due to delivery times on projectors and audio equipment delays, the deadline was pushed back. “We finally have the projectors delivery timeline and we are doing finishing touches, ordering, and much more,” said General Manager Madyson Pollock.
The theater went through a complete renovation inside and out. Some of the updates that will be seen inside the lush theater are luxury recliner seating, 4K projectors, Dolby Atmos immersive sound, privacy pods in the dinner theater, service call buttons, themes designed by Bob Lancaster Designs with each theater having its own vibe and own name according to a Facebook post from the owners.
The theater will also have a full bar and lounge with local vendors products. Dinner theater will include options from DaVinci’s Chef Pavel Skorpil, and DaVinci’s pizza.
