HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – On June 6, new and returning grill master teams will compete as Squealin’ on the Square returns to fill downtown Hopkinsville with live music and finger licking good food.
Hopkinsville Parks and Recreation is behind the 7th annual iteration of this delicious community event that will pit 10 local teams against each other as they fire up the grill to battle for the coveted trophy and $250 cash prize. Teams will spend the majority of the day cooking up their signature dishes downtown, with judges later sampling and judging in the chicken, ribs, and chops categories.
At 6 p.m., the public is invited to join in and have a taste of what teams have prepared. The Rock and Roll Pianos perform live from 6 p.m. through 9 p.m. with heir Dueling Pianos show. Additional food trucks and alcohol vendors will be on-site, including G’s BBQ, Kona Ice, Boutique Cotton Candy, Chef Jamie’s Food Truck, and Casey Jones Distillery.
Last year, BBQ on Wheels won the first-place trophy for their pork chops, Knuckles BBQ won for pork ribs, and New World Fellowship won for chicken. The Mayor’s Choice Award went to Hopkinsville Fire Department 5533.
Call 270-887-4290 for more information on how to get involved. This is one of many events that will take place downtown this summer, with Hoptown Throwdown coming up next on July 11.
