Update, 10 p.m.: The Tornado Warning has been canceled. A Wind Advisory remains in effect.

Update, 9:45 p.m.: HFD Fire and EMS are reporting multiple emergencies to include a structure fire and vehicle accidents. “Personnel are reporting debris and trees blocking multiple roads. Nearly every staffed apparatus is on the roadway. Please stay home and let emergency crews work,” HFD and EMS reported.

Update, 9:35 p.m.: A Tornado Warning has been issued for Christian County until 10:30 p.m. A severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was indicated by radar near Oak Grove, Kentucky, moving northeast at 60 mph.

“Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without shelter,” the NWS said. “Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree damage is likely.”

Update, 9:18 p.m.: Severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from near Robards to 7 miles northwest of Earlington to 6 miles east of Cobb, moving northeast at 55 mph with wind gusts up to 60 mph. The Warning has been extended until 10:15 p.m.

Update, 9:03 p.m.: Severe thunderstorms are located along a line extending from near Cobb to 6 miles northwest of Big Rock, moving east at 70 mph with wind gusts up to 60 mph and penny-size hail. The Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been extended until 10 p.m.

Update, 8:37 p.m.: A Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued for Christian County until 9:30 p.m. At 8:37 p.m., a severe thunderstorm was located over Hopkinsville moving northeast at 45 mph with wind gusts of up to 60 mph.

A Tornado Watch has been issued through 11 p.m. for Christian and surrounding counties. A Watch means conditions are right for a tornado to form. If a tornado is spotted or indicated on radar, a Warning will be issued.

HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Breezy and warm conditions will continue today before a strong overnight system brings rain, a chance of thunder and even a brief changeover to snow early Monday. Temperatures will drop sharply overnight, falling from the 70s today to near freezing by morning, according to the National Weather Service.

An enhanced risk of severe storms is in effect for later this afternoon and evening, with damaging winds and isolated tornadoes the main hazards. A wind advisory is in effect for gusty wind potential up to 50 mph outside of thunderstorms.

Cold and windy weather will linger Monday, followed by a gradual warmup through the week. Sunshine returns Tuesday, with temperatures climbing back into the 70s by Thursday and Friday.
