HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Hopkinsville Police responded to a call about a burglary in progress at a residence on Skyline Park Drive that led to the arrest of a homeless man under the influence of drugs.

Responding officers were taken to the backyard of the residence around 11:30 a.m. on Sept. 28, where the 43-year-old male suspect was located in the sunroom drinking a Coca-Cola. The homeowner told police that the suspect had just walked into her house and went through the fridge, grabbed the soda and walked around drinking it. He was assumed to be under the influence of narcotics when the crime took place.

The suspect resisted arrest and attempted to evade officers, and was eventually dragged to the police cruiser, according to an arrest report from HPD. He then proceeded to kick the interior of the cruiser and threatened violence against the officers and EMTs who transported him to the hospital for evaluation. While at Jennie Stuart Medical Center, it was reported that he attempted to kick a nurse.

After being medically cleared, he was arrested and taken to the Christian County Jail and is being charged with public intoxication, second degree burglary, resisting arrest, attempted assault of a healthcare provider, and terroristic threatening in the third degree.
