HOPKINSVILLE, KY – At the Nov. 5 Board of Education meeting, Christian County Public Schools introduced A’Niiyah Wilford and Jayden Silva as this year’s student representatives to the Board.

Elected by their peers at Christian County High School, Wilford and Silva will attend monthly Board meetings, take part in official events, give presentations to the Board, and answer questions from Board members. As non-voting members, they will not participate in closed sessions.

This marks the fifth year CCPS has included student representatives on its Board of Education.

“Every year, our student board members remind us why we do this work,” said CCPS Superintendent Chris Bentzel. “They ask good questions, share honest perspectives, and help keep students at the center of every conversation. We’re excited to welcome A’Niyah and Jayden to the table.”

A’Niyah represents the Academy of Health and Community Services, where she excels in the Teaching and Learning pathway. She has been a student leader since her first days at CCHS, serving as a Student Ambassador since her freshman year and as a member of the Superintendent’s Advisory Council. She was also a key member of the Student Voice Team for the high school master plan and continues to help shape the district’s future on the current High School Steering Committee. Outside of her committee work, A’Niyah leads the CCHS Tiger Band as Field Commander.

After graduation, A’Niyah plans to attend an Ivy League university to earn a bachelor’s degree in accounting.

Jayden also represents the Academy of Health and Community Services, where he is in the Biomedical Science pathway. He has already earned his NOCTE certification in biotechnology, a strong reflection of his discipline and focus in the classroom. Outside of school, Jayden works at the Walmart Supercenter in Oak Grove, balancing a job with his studies and leadership responsibilities.

After graduation, he plans to serve his country by joining the United States Air Force.

In 2022, Christian County Schools joined other districts across the state of Kentucky to begin the initiative of student representatives serving on their Boards. Miss Wilford and Mr. Silva were sworn in at last night’s Board Meeting and will serve through the 2026-2027 school year.
