HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Students from Christian County High School art club spent their Friday outside of the classroom painting the word “community” across the walls of the Hopkinsville YMCA.

The National Art Honor Society Unlimited Art Club consists of about 15 students, mostly upperclassman from Christian County High. Paula Gieseke and her students were contacted by the YMCA to update the murals in the upper track area. “We are painting in the style of Jason Naylor,” Gieseke said.

The students used a variety of colors and patterns to bring the mural to life. Along with Christian County High School, students from Freedom Elementary painted flowers and rainbows alongside the larger mural.

The students plan on finishing the mural this afternoon. It can be found at 7805 Eagle Way, YMCA Hopkinsville Christian County.
