HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – The man involved in a multi-county police chase from Elizabethtown to Hopkinsville died in the hospital yesterday where he was being treated for a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to the Kentucky State Police.

A standoff with the suspect occurred in Hopkinsville after the suspect shot three people in the courthouse parking lot in Elizabethtown the morning of Aug. 19. Two of the female victims were killed and the male victim was injured, according to the Elizabethtown Police Department. Kentucky State Police refers to the shooting as a domestic violence incident.

A pursuit was initiated after the armed suspect was seen driving near Greenville, Kentucky, failing to pull over for a traffic stop initiated by law enforcement. He was followed to Christian County in the area of Greenville Road and Judges Chapel Road when he stopped his vehicle in a parking lot. Law enforcement attempted to communicate with the suspect for 90 minutes, according to Hopkinsville Police Department.

A news release from KSP said that at 11:15 a.m., the suspect discharged a weapon, causing a self-inflicted wound. He was transported to Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville where he died from his injuries on the same day.
