HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – A 22-year-old man was arrested after leading Hopkinsville Police on a high-speed chase in a stolen vehicle Monday night.

Officers were initially alerted to a theft in progress at 130 North Main Street in Hopkinsville a little after 8 p.m., where a caller described the suspect, saying his company vehicle had been stolen from the parking lot. Dispatch discovered that there was a tracking device on the vehicle, and officers were able to track the suspect to the North Main Street area.

According to a police report, the suspect fled at a high rate of speed when officers pursued the vehicle. When driving near the Hopkinsville Bypass (KY 1682) and Davenport Lane, he was seen going 106 mph and began driving on the wrong side of roadway.

A box-in maneuver was eventually attempted, but the suspect instead exited the bypass and crashed into the passenger side of an officer’s vehicle. Both vehicles sustained damage, and the pursuit ended.

The suspect was taken into custody and is facing seven charges for various traffic violations, along with automotive theft, assault of an officer, wanton endangerment, and fleeing or evading police.
