HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – A man was arrested after barricading himself in a residence for several hours overnight, leading to his arrest by Hopkinsville Police.

Around 1 a.m. on Nov. 4, officers responded to an individual who was experiencing a mental health crisis at the 700 block of Buckley Avenue. The individual made threats of harm toward himself and officers, and barricaded himself inside a residence, according to HPD.

The department’s SWAT team and crisis negotiators were called to the residence in an effort to peacefully resolve the situation. The surrounding area was blocked off during the investigation and response.

Around 4 a.m., the man was taken into custody without further incident due to a warrant for his arrest for failure to appear in court. HPD says mental health services will be made available to the man.
