HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Two 16-year-old and two 17-year-old Hopkinsville teenagers were arrested at a residence after a SWAT team search. The arrests stemmed from an investigation of a shooting and car theft on Tuesday.

On Oct. 14, officers were dispatched to the Clarktown Landing area in reference to reports of shots fired. Upon arrival, officers determined that a residence in the area had been struck multiple times by gunfire, according to a news release from HPD.

Witnesses reported seeing the suspects flee the scene in a dark-colored sedan. Shortly after, officers responded to a separate call in the Moores Drive area regarding a stolen vehicle. Through initial investigation, it was determined that the stolen vehicle matched the description of the suspect vehicle
from the Clarktown Landing incident.

Detectives with the Hopkinsville Police Department began investigating and confirmed that the stolen vehicle was indeed the same vehicle seen fleeing the scene of the shooting. During the course of the investigation, detectives were able to identify one of the individuals associated with the stolen vehicle.

HPD says that based on this information and additional evidence, a search warrant was obtained for a residence on Lewis Street.

With the assistance of the Hopkinsville Police Department SWAT Team, the search warrant was executed, resulting in the recovery of four firearms, two of which had been previously reported stolen. One firearm had been reported stolen from a residence in Crofton earlier this year, and another from a residence in Hopkinsville in 2018.

Detectives also seized multiple cell phones as part of the investigation. Four juvenile males were detained at the residence. Following interviews and analysis of the recovered evidence, all four juveniles were charged with weapons-related offenses.

They were subsequently transported to the McCracken County Juvenile Detention Center. Their charges are:

  • 16-year-old male: Possession of a Handgun by a Minor, 1st Offense and Receiving Stolen Property (Firearm)
  • 16-year-old male: Possession of a Handgun by a Minor, 1st Offense
  • 17-year-old male: Possession of a Handgun by a Minor, 1st Offense and Receiving Stolen Property (Firearm)
  • 16-year-old male: Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree, Criminal Mischief 1st Degree, Receiving Stolen Property (Auto), and Possession of a Handgun by a Minor, 1st Offense.

This is still an open investigation, and detectives anticipate additional charges.
