HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – The Hopkinsville Tigers and Christian County Colonels met up at the stadium of champions for the final time in the series history before the schools merge next year in 2026-27. The Tigers scored early and often for a 48-13 win, closing the book on one of the most historic rivalries in the state of Kentucky.
Hopkinsville got started early, with James Bradley Jr. finding the endzone only two minutes into the contest to start things off. The Tigers added two more touchdowns, including a pick six from Treymane Clay and a rushing touchdown from Keyshon Teal, before the Colonels finally responded, getting on the board via a Jimmarion Byrd touchdown to stop the bleeding as Hopkinsville had a 22-6 lead.

That didn’t help much, however, as the Tigers continued to dominate, and thanks to two more touchdowns from Bradley Jr., Hopkinsville held a commanding 41-6 lead with five minutes still left in the first half.
“Hopkinsville’s got a good team,” said Christian County interim head coach Kelly Myers. “Defensively, we were sound, just didn’t have enough bullets in the chamber. We need to grow up as young men; that’s my message to them with one game left. I’m excited for the merger; it should make a powerhouse.”

The second half featured a lot of backups, with both squads adding one touchdown to their scores, but Hopkinsville cruised to a big win in the last game of this historic rivalry.

For the Tigers, it’s a memory they’ll never forget in the Stadium of Champions.
“It was a great atmosphere and a great game,” said Hopkinsville head coach Dustin Lopez. “Proud of our guys for stepping up and making the plays they needed to; they played their tails off. We’ve got a lot of great players who make me look like a good coach. Our guys will enjoy it, and they have bragging rights forever now.”
