HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) –Through the long weekend, there are a few events to check out around Hopkinsville. This includes a fun event for kids at the library, a parents night out party, book swap, and march on MLK Day.
January Parents’ Night Out: Blaster Wars
- When: Jan. 17 from 5-8 p.m.
- Where: Hopkinsville Martial Arts, 1007 Skyline Drive
- Cost: $25 per child (Hopkinsville Martial Arts students receive $10 off)
- Details: Kids ages 6-12 can enjoy a pizza party followed by an action-packed night of Nerf battles, including games, team wars, PvP matches and a Battle Royale finale. Children may bring their own Nerf blaster or use one provided. Proceeds support the martial arts scholarship and competition fund. Spots are limited; call or text (270) 305-2177 to register.

- Details: This fun event is dedicated to young fans of Bluey! They can come and enjoy themed crafts and games at the library along with a photo booth and dancing.
- When: Jan. 17 at 1 p.m.
- Where: The Book & Bottle Shop
- Cost: Free (wine available for purchase)
- Details: Refresh your bookshelf with a Dirty Santa–style book swap. Bring one or more wrapped books to trade and take turns choosing new titles, with steals allowed up to three times per book. Participants leave with the same number of books they brought. A trade period follows once all books are unwrapped.
Martin Luther King Jr. Day March and Program
- When: Jan. 19 at 9 a.m.
- Where: Freedom Elementary School
- Cost: Free
- Details: The community is invited to attend this free march from Freedom Elementary School to Hopkinsville Community College in honor of MLK Day. A program will be held after the march at the HHC auditorium.
