HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – There are plenty of events to check out this weekend around Hopkinsville including a rodeo, a chance to look back at school history, live music at distilleries, and a concert downtown.

- Details: Pioneers, Inc. will host its Mid-Summer Fish Fry. Plates are $15 and tickets can be purchased from any Pioneers member, at the door or by messaging the organization on Facebook.
- Where: Western Kentucky State Fairgrounds, Hopkinsville
- When: Friday and Saturday, Aug. 14-15, at 7:30 p.m.
- Cost: $12-$25
- Details: The Lone Star Championship Rodeo will feature bareback bronc riding, team roping, saddle bronc riding, Brahma bull riding, steer wrestling, cowgirls barrel racing, cowgirls breakaway roping, calf roping and authentic chuck wagon racing. A concert will be held Friday night.

- When: Saturday, Aug. 15, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

- Details: The Museums of Historic Hopkinsville-Christian County will bring yearbooks out of storage for a day celebrating local school history. Visitors can browse yearbooks from 10 area schools, including Attucks High School, Bethel College, Christian County High School, Crofton School and more. School memorabilia will also be on display, and visitors can bring local education-related items to donate to the museum.

- Details: Enjoy live music, food and bourbon at the distillery. Johnathan Lewis, David Harper and AI Competition will perform from 6:45-8:45 p.m. KK Coney will serve food from 12:30-8 p.m. Extended tastings are available at 6 and 6:30 p.m., with happy hour beginning at 5 p.m. The event is family-friendly and no reservations are required.

- When: Saturday, Aug. 15, 2-3 p.m.

- Details: The library’s monthly Fandom Frenzy will celebrate the Spider-Verse. Attendees are encouraged to wear their favorite Spider-Man or fandom attire. The event is open to all ages.
- Where: The Corner Coffeehouse, Hopkinsville
- When: Saturday, Aug. 15, 5:30-7:30 p.m.
- Cost: Free
- Details: The open mic night will feature local poets and singer-songwriters. Performers can register in advance or sign up at the door. An amp will be provided, but performers should bring their own instruments.
Pickin’ ’n’ Sippin’ at MB Roland

- When: Saturday, Aug. 15, 5:30-9 p.m.
- Cost: Free
- Details: The Heavy Change will perform 1970s rock, country and garage music beginning at 6:30 p.m. Food and vendors will be available, including Fryz Wit Dat, Sno-Cones, MB Roland cocktails and beer, Master Blend Cigar Concierge and St. Elmo General Store. Max’s Hope Pet Rescue will also host a pet adoption and supply drive. Guests should bring their own chairs.

- Details: Hoptown Hopfest returns with “Ride Like the Wind – The Yacht Rock Experience,” featuring soft rock and yacht rock hits. The event benefits the historic Alhambra Theatre and supports its performances, youth arts education and community programs.
