HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Thomas “Brown” Badgett Jr. passed away on Friday, Aug. 29 at the age of 75 years old. Born in 1950, Brown was known in Hopkinsville and the surrounding area for his relationship with local nonprofits, and philanthropy efforts.
According to his obituary from Hughart, Beard, and Giles Funeral Home, Brown was a man who lived with unwavering devotion. Recognition held no significance for Brown. What truly mattered were the individuals he touched, the neighbors and friends who could count on his generosity and the family who felt his unwavering love.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Salvation Army of Hopkinsville, Boys & Girls Club of Hopkinsville, or Maryhurst of Louisville.
Brown and his wife Sue’s generosity has had a far-reaching impact healing lives: YMCA, The Parks & Recreation Center in Greenville, the Pediatric Ward at Baptist Health Deaconess, The Badgett Regional Center for Enhancement at Madisonville Community College, Greater Muhlenberg County Parks and Recreation, Gatton Academy at Western Kentucky University, University of Kentucky Women and Philanthropy, Felix E. Martin, Jr. Foundation, Hopkinsville Christian County Library and Maryhurst in Louisville.
Visitation will be held Saturday, Aug. 30 from 10-11:30 a.m. followed by the funeral at First Christian Church of Hopkinsville. Hughart, Beard & Giles Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
