HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Watch for Christian County from March 14 at 7:30 p.m. through March 15 at 3 a.m.

While Crofton in north Christian County has a legitimate tornado shelter able to hold a few hundred people, the community is also able to shelter at First Baptist Church in Hopkinsville or at the Oak Grove Community Center if needed.

“Everyone please be aware of the likely hazardous weather tonight,” said Christian County Judge Executive Jerry Gilliam.  “We are staged and ready to go if we have areas of debris and destruction. Please have cell phones charged and weather radios available. I pray our area dodges this event and it passes with no destruction anywhere.”
