HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – A trailer with thousands of dollars’ worth of equipment was stolen from the Hopkinsville-Christian County Bud Hudson Youth Football League on Jan. 7.
The nonprofit organization reported the theft to law enforcement Tuesday morning. It is described as a 6×12 white enclosed trailer with Arizona plates. 170 shoulder pads, 200 practice jerseys and pants, game pants, and 26 helmets were inside the trailer with a total value of approximately $64,000, according to Matthew Monday, League Commissioner.
“This theft has been a significant setback for our league and what we are working to build for the youth in our community,” Monday told Christian County Now. “The Bud Hudson organization is about more than just football; we strive to teach our kids important life lessons like discipline, teamwork, and confidence that will help them succeed both on and off the field.”
They are encouraging anyone with information to come forward and contact the Hopkinsville Police Department at 270-890-1500.
“We are hopeful that with the community’s support and the hard work of local law enforcement, we can get back on track and continue serving the children who depend on our league,” Monday added.
