HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – With Oak Grove, Crofton, and Lafayette in Christian County already rescheduling trick or treating for residents, the prediction of rain for Halloween night persists.

The National Weather Service explained that a line of showers and storms will continue to push east, with rain lingering into the evening across the Pennyrile region. Wind gusts as high as 30 mph are expected during the day, with a 60% chance of rain this evening. According to the NWS hazardous weather outlook, the majority of inclement weather is expected in the morning and early afternoon on Halloween.

Due to the predicted weather forecast for Thursday night, Hopkinsville Parks and Recreation made the decision to reschedule the downtown trick or treating event. “Forecasts for the area predict heavy rain and lightning during the scheduled time of the event. The decision was made with the safety and comfort of all attendees in mind,” said HPR in a news release.
