HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Christian County Emergency Management is preparing the community for the potential of excess rain in the area between Thursday and Friday, with four to five inches expected.
According to CCEM, wind gusts up to 40 mph may occur along with minor flooding. Drivers are advised to seek alternate routes if roadways become flooded.
“If flash flooding occurs, stay off the roadway and never attempt to cross a flooded road,” said a statement from Hopkinsville Fire/ EMS. “It only takes about 12 inches of water to move a car.”
The National Weather Service specifies that heavy rainfall and lightning will be the primary concerns as the remnants of a hurricane come towards Kentucky. The county can expect prolonged downpours for the entirety of Friday.
