HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – The Aging Council is holding their annual fish fry at the Christian County Senior Center to raise funds for the facility and activities.

“The money that we raise, we use to fix things up around the senior center,” said Christian County Magistrate Rich Leibe about the fundraiser. “These guys that are cooking this fish, they have been doing this their whole lives…we are blessed that we have such great support.”

Kelly Martin with the Aging Council added that this decade old fundraiser generally raises upwards of $10,000 for the senior center, with volunteers coordinated to cook and serve the food for the hundreds of hungry visitors. Martin also told Christian County Now that purchasing a plate is an easy and effective way to give back to senior members of Hopkinsville.

The money raised will go directly to the center to fund necessary repairs as they arise and continue to allow for the variety of fun programming including dances, a gym, and the recreation area. He described the center as a thriving community that promotes fun, and fitness while bringing people together.

Delicious plates will be served up on Oct. 24 at 1402 West Seventh Street between 4:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Each plate costs $15, with the option to eat at the facility or carryout. Tickets can be purchased ahead of time at the Senior Center during the week until 4 p.m., or can be purchased the day of for the same price.
