HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish a house fire early Thursday morning after flames were spotted by a person passing by.

Hopkinsville Fire Department was notified about the fire around 12:30 a.m. on Feb. 27 when a person noticed flames coming from the back of the home at the 1800 block of Twyman Street. According to HFD, Battalion 1 firefighters arrived within five minutes of the call, and were able to extinguish the fire with ease.

It was determined that the house had recently been vacated by the tenet and was unoccupied, according to Payton Rogers with HFD. The cause is being investigated.
