HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – A woman suspected of being intoxicated was arrested after crashing through a street sign and yards overnight.
According to an arrest report from the Hopkinsville Police Department, just after midnight on Aug. 6, officers with the Hopkinsville Police Department were dispatched to the area of Richard Street and North Drive in reference to a reckless driver who hit a speed limit sign and continued to drive through residential yards.
The vehicle was located by a Christian County Sheriff’s deputy driving in a reckless manner, and a traffic stop was initiated. Tests were done to determine if the 38-year-old female driver was under the influence of alcohol, and she told officers that she had a few drinks earlier in the night. The police report notes that they noticed the smell of alcohol and vomit in the vehicle.
Visible damage in the shape of a street sign was seen on the front end of the vehicle, although the suspect claims the damage was from a previous accident where she was hit by a drunk driver.
The woman was arrested and is being charged with driving under the influence, criminal mischief, reckless driving, failure to produce an insurance card, no registration receipt, and failure to properly signal.
