Dr. Wade Kadel, 85, of Hopkinsville, KY died at 3:50 a.m. Thursday, November 30, 2023 at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Evansville, IN.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 3, 2023 at Hughart, Beard & Giles Funeral Home with Dr. Tom Martin officiating. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 11:30 a.m. until the funeral hour. Hughart, Beard & Giles Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

A native of Springfield, Missouri, he was born July 7, 1938 the son of the late Keith Randolph Kadel and Dorothy Ann McLean Kadel. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. Dr. Kadel was a veterinary pathologist and retired as the Director of Breathitt Veterinary Center. He was a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Kentucky Veterinary Medical Association, and the American Association of Veterinary Laboratory Diagnosticians.

He was an active member of First Christian Church in Cadiz, Kentucky where he had served as a deacon and Chairman of the Board. He was a member of the Hopkinsville Rotary Club where he had served as President and Auction Chairman. He chaired the first Rotary Auction to be televised.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years: Jackie Kadel; his children: Kathryn (Brad) Ford of Evansville, IN, Lynn (Billy) Garnett of Hopkinsville, KY and Adam Wade (Jill) Kadel of Asheboro, NC; his sister: Georgia Huffman of Fort Worth, TX; his grandchildren: Chelsea (Matt) Cooper, Lindsay Garnett, Wesley (Maddie) Ford, Charles Wade Garnett, Elizabeth Garnett, Melissa (Tate) Hohulin, Virginia Garnett, Theresa (Jarod) Perry, Joshua Ford, Anna Garnett, Addison Kadel, Reagan Kadel, and Payton Kadel; and his great grandchildren: Skylar Cooper, Rosalyn Cooper, Loretta Cooper, Zadok Cooper, Auden Hohulin, and Georgia Perry.
