OAK GROVE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Wades Way Park in Oak Grove has received a major renovation, with two new play structures and a lot of ways for kids to play.
With ADA accessibility in mind, the playground consists of wood fiber mulch with a poured pathway and access ramp, along with an accessible merry go round and a new swing set with belted seats and other adaptive seat customizations. The park is also home to a large pavilion, restrooms, and a basketball court.
The city initially anticipated that the playground would open in April 2025, with flooding and other delays pushing the opening date back to July 19. Oak Grove Mayor Jackie Oliver was joined by city officials and community members to cut the ribbon on the park, and reopen it to the public after months of construction.
Discussion about the park had been ongoing in the city for about a year. In October 2024, the Oak Grove City Council voted to put the playground equipment out for bid, utilizing a playground grant and $200,000 of leftover ARPA funds to fund the park.
