HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – The War Memorial Building, located at 1202 South Virginia Street, is closed until February as renovations take place.
Donna Cornelius, the building manager, says a fresh coat of paint, new floors, and countertops in the kitchen area are some of the changes community members will see inside. She assured people it will still look the same, but a bit more cleaned up. There are no plans to change the exterior at this time.
The War Memorial Building was acquired by the City of Hopkinsville in 1984 and has served as a gathering place for many years. While renovations continue, Kiwanis and Rotary Club of Hopkinsville have relocated their weekly meetings which are usually held in the building’s auditorium.
The building will remain closed to the public until renovations are complete, Cornelius estimates the project will be finished by February.
