Updated 8 p.m.: Pennyrile Electric says crews are working to restore power to more than 300 members after incoming storms broke several utility poles.

Repairs in Christian County are currently being done in the area of Glass Lane in an effort to restore power. The Pennyrile Electric outage map shows the majority of outages between Newstead Road and Cox Mill Road just outside of Hopkinsville city limits.

HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – A Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued by the National Weather Service in Paducah until 6:15 p.m. This is in affect for parts of Christian County and other surrounding counties.

The warning was issued at 5:31 p.m. when a severe thunderstorm was located near Fort Campbell moving east at about 45 mph. The storm is capable of producing wind gusts up to 60 mph, which could cause damage to roofs, siding and trees. The warning includes the communities of Oak Grove, Fort Campbell, Clarksville, and Herndon.

Motorists are urged to use caution along Interstate 24 between mile markers 79 and 92, as well as near mile marker one on the Pennyrile Parkway. The National Weather Service advises residents to remain alert for the possibility of a tornado, as severe thunderstorms can quickly produce tornadic activity. People in the warned area should move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building for protection.
