HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – There are so many fun activities happening around Christian County this week. Celebrate Earth Day at The Bloomery or Nancy Drew’s birthday at the library, head to Oak Grove for a family fun day, or hear restoration plans for Attucks High School at a gospel benefit.
Earth Day at The Bloomery: Celebrate Earth Day at The Bloomery during a free, family-friendly event focused on sustainability, nature, and gardening fun. Hands on activities will be available for kids along with a petting zoo, local vendors, a seed swap, and free gardening classes. The event takes place on April 26 from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Animal Shelter Spring Fling: On April 26 from 10:30 a.m. through 4 p.m. the Christian County Animal Shelter will host an adoption event at 2935 Russellville Road. All of their adult dogs and cats are going to be $50. They will be doing microchipping and will have additional rescues available for adoption all day.
Nancy Drew’s 95th Birthday: Mystery Day activities are scheduled for noon-2 p.m. April 26 at Hopkinsville-Christian Co. Public Library, 1101 Bethel St. Test your Mystery trivia with Jeopardy starting at noon. Decorate your own evidence journal and create a morse code bracelet. Have your mug shot taken at our one-of-a-kind photo booth. In Celebration of Nancy Drew’s 95th Birthday, they will have special refreshments that she loved to snack on while investigating cases.
Family Fest and Color Run: Visit Hopkinsville Community College on Saturday for Family Fest. Visit departmental table and learn about programs and services at HCC from 10 a.m.- 11 a.m., followed by a free color fun run from 11 a.m.-12 p.m. The first 100 participants will receive a Color Run shirt.
Oak Grove Fun Day: At Valor Hall on April 26 at 11 a.m.- 2 p.m., the City of Oak Grove is hosting a fun day for families with activities, and a touch a truck event.
Bruce Impact Day of Service: Join The Hopkinsville Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Saturday, April 26 from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. at The Bruce for an Impact Day of Service. During this time, the community is invited to attend this free event to learn about valuable community resources. Local vendors will be on site. In addition, door prizes will be given away throughout the day.
MB Roland Crawfish Boil: All-you-can-eat crawfish brought in fresh directly from Louisiana and cooked by an experienced Louisiana Krewe, live music, and so much more are in store for this event at MB Roland in Pembroke, Kentucky! The event is April 26 from 12 p.m.- 5 p.m. Ticket purchase includes (1) drink ticket, plus the option to add-on a swag bag valued at over $100.
Gospel Benefit for Attucks Revitalization: This event at 5 p.m. on Saturday night will be an opportunity for Men 2 Be to share their vision for revitalizing the community through Attucks High School restoration. While attendance is free, they are accepting donations to support this important cause. They will also be selling plates for $15 while people enjoy live performances.
