HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Kick off the holiday weekend with a re-launch party of Downtown Hopkinsville’s beloved restaurant The Mixer, paint with a local artist on Saturday and join the Hopkinsville Human Rights Commission with a Martin Luther King Jr. celebration on Monday.
Re-Launch party at The Mixer: Join MEDI and let’s “Toast” to the successful “Re-Launch” of one of Downtown Hopkinsville’s hottest restaurants. All are welcome to attend, enjoy, and kickoff the Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday Weekend. The event is free and will guests will be able to participate The Mixer food, refreshments, and ambience. The party is from 3:30-4:40 p.m. Friday, Jan. 12, at The Mixer, 114 East Sixth Street.
Charcoal drawing workshop: Join local artist Betty Liles as she teaches the basic drawing elements of line, shadow, value and perspective. The workshop is $35 for non-Hopkinsville Art Guild Members and will be held First Presbyterian Church, 303 East 9 Street, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 13.
Vansauwa’s Tacos and Vegan Eats Pop-Up: Vansauwa’s Tacos & Vegan Eats suffered a catastrophic fire in their food truck on December 30. While the truck is out of commission, they’ll be popping up in the taproom at Hopkinsville Brewing Co. to keep serving their delicious offerings to the community. They will be serving from noon until they sell out on Saturday, Jan. 13.
MLK Day!: HRC, the Local NAACP Chapter, and community partners present the 2024 MLK Day March & Program. The March will begin at Freedom Elementary School at 9 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 15, and will end at Hopkinsville Community College’s Auditorium Building with a program to follow. The Salvation Army will be on site at HCC to collect coats for a coat drive.
