HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – This weekend is packed with events to ring in summer, including a massive free festival in Oak Grove, fishing at Jeffers Bend, burgers at HBC, shopping downtown, and fun at the library!
Countdown to Summer Reading: The Challenge: At 5 p.m. on Friday, the Hopkinsville- Christian County Public Library has put together an intense physical fitness competition for our kids, tweens and teens to challenge themselves physically. Those who dare to take on The Challenge, will test their skills on our balance beam and take a chance at our unique Leap Frog game, among other tasks. Light refreshments will be served.
Take Kids Fishing Day: On Saturday, visit Jeffers Bend Environmental Center for a fun filled day outside, starting at 9 a.m. until noon. There will be free lunch and shirts for kids, along with prizes for the smallest, largest, and most fish in each age group. Make unforgettable memories with family and friends in the great outdoors! Bring fishing gear (or borrow theirs).
Oak Grove’s Spring into Summer Salutes Fort Campbell Festival: The free carnival packed with vendors, rides, attractions, shows, and a concert is returning Saturday and Sunday. Country music star Brantley Gilbert will be headlining this year, with parachute jumpers and a drone show planned.
Sip & Shop: Shop local vendors and sip on half-priced mimosas Saturday morning at the Book & Bottle Shop. Bookish gifts, sweet treats, and unique pieces will be available for one day only. Live spun cotton candy, macrame, handmade products, and half price mimosas during the event between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
2nd Annual Downtown Burger Days: On Friday and Saturday from 4 p.m. through 8 p.m., Hopkinsville Brewing Company is hosting a delicious local food truck that will feature a specialty burger each night. They’re celebrating everything burger-related by showcasing downtown restaurants and local food trucks as they unveil new and amazing burger creations.
