HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Despite freezing temperatures and snow flurries kicking off December, there is no chance that Hopkinsville and Christian County will have a white Christmas this year

As of Dec. 17, AccuWeather is predicting that Christmas Eve will see a high of around 58 degrees with a 25% chance of rain. On Christmas Day, temperatures will climb a little higher, landing at around 64 degrees with sunshine and a low of 35.

This week, showers and isolated storms are expected to roll through the area on Thursday. The National Weather Service says windy conditions are anticipated as a cold front approaches, which will bring in a brief cold blast on Friday, Dec. 19. From there, it will start to warm back up going into the week of Christmas, with a couple of days of rain to start out the holiday week.

How does this compare to last year? NOAA Online Weather Data shows that Christmas Eve had a high of 51 degrees, rising up to 55 Christmas Day. Throughout December in 2024, there was no snow accumulation, and the month was fairly mild with an average temperature of 50 degrees. This is slightly above “normal” which is listed at 47 degrees.
