OAK GROVE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – A Tennessee woman died at the Christian County Jail on Saturday, shortly after she was found to be in possession of oxycodone during a traffic stop in Oak Grove.

Just after 3 a.m. on March 7, deputies with the Christian County Sheriff’s Office initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle at Winners Way in Oak Grove. The vehicle was traveling 58 mph in a 45-mph zone, according to an arrest report.

Deputies noted that the vehicle smelled like marijuana, and a probable search was conducted. A marijuana blunt was located in the center console along with a clear plastic bag containing three white pills. 31-year-old Zoe Johnson from Brentwood, Tennessee was a passenger in the vehicle, and she claimed ownership of the pills. The pills were identified as an oxycodone and acetaminophen combination, and Johnson disclosed they were her prescription from a recent surgery.

She was arrested and charged with possession of a schedule two controlled substance narcotic and was transported to the Christian County Jail. Payton Rogers with Hopkinsville Fire/EMS told Christian County Now that emergency crews responded to the jail around 6:30 a.m. due to Johnson suffering cardiac arrest.

For nearly thirty minutes, EMS worked to revive her, but she was pronounced deceased. Rogers said the medical emergency was possibly due to an overdose.
