HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – A man believed to be under the influence of drugs was arrested after threatening a woman with a knife and fleeing from police Saturday afternoon.

The 56-year-old Hopkinsville man approached a random woman in the area of East Seventh Street on Oct. 4, telling her to her to sit with him or else he was going to cut her. He told the 43-year-old woman he was going to start killing homeless people and harm himself. When the woman attempted to leave, he threatened her again and pulled out a knife, according to an arrest report from HPD.

At this time another individual stated that they were calling the police, and the suspect began walking away. When police made initial contact with him in the area of Liberty Street and East Fifth Street, he began to run. Officers were able to catch up, with the arrest report noting that he was exhibiting erratic behavior along with slurred speech and dilated pupils possible due to drug use.

He was identified as Walter Lewis and was placed under arrest arrested with charges for unlawful imprisonment, terroristic threatening, menacing, fleeing police, public intoxication, and drug paraphernalia possession.
