HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – The Hopkinsville-Christian County Public Library was transported back in time Saturday, as Ye Olde Book Wyrm Renaissance Faire was held for a second year. Drawing people from not only Hopkinsville, nearby but Murray, Madisonville, Bowling Green, and Nashville, Tennessee, visitors had a variety of medieval activities to participate in.
The Nashville School of Historical Fencing gave demonstrations and lessons throughout the afternoon, and in the amphitheater, fire performers spun and twirled with their flaming batons. Everyone could participate in The Queen’s Quest, gathering scrolls at checkpoints for prizes awarded upon completion. Roaming performers from Kentucky Shakespeare presented tidbits from “A Midsommer Night’s Dream” and “MacBeth” to the crowds. There were arts and crafts, tarot readings and handmade items for sale, highlighting small business owners from the area.

Eve Hudson, one of the organizers of the event, said the goal was to get the community to come out so everyone could participate in a Renaissance Faire because there was not one in the area.
As evidenced by the guests who came in their best costumes, from pirates to Medusa to princesses and chain-mailed knights, the community at large embraced the event. Returning patron Keely Doctorman summed up the prevailing feeling saying, “I hope they keep doing it forever.”
