HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Zachary Cole Boyd of Hopkinsville passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at his home on Sunday, June 30, 2024 at the age of 12 years old after battling bone cancer.
Zach was born in Hopkinsville on October 24, 2011. He was proud to be a South Christian Dragon and was looking forward to starting 7th grade at Christian County Middle School, according to his obituary. Zachary was a Christian and loved gaming, drawing, and swimming, and was an avid fan of Sonic, Spiderman, and Toy Story.
He had a large following of support on social media with the #ZacharyStrong Facebook page. A few months ago, his grandmother and others in Hopkinsville helped facilitate a meeting between him and comedian Jeff Dunham to lift his spirits.

“Zachary visited HFD on numerous occasions over the last couple years and had become close with many of our employees,” said Hopkinsville Fire/EMS. “He had an infectious spirit and an extremely witty personality. We were honored to know him. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time and the days ahead.”
The Christian County Public School System said,” Christian County Public Schools was saddened to hear of the passing of one of our students, Zachary Boyd. Zachary was a student at South Christian Elementary and had fought a courageous battle against cancer.
Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, teachers, and fellow classmates.”
Celebration of Life Services will be at 4:00 PM at Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home with Mr. Tim Neal officiating on Tuesday, July 9, 2024. Visitation will be at Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. until the service hour at 4:00 p.m.
The family is requesting that people who attend wear a shirt that would have made Zach smile.
