HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – Tom Britton with Community Development Services shared plans to assign zoning allocations to acres of property at Martin Luther King Dr. Way in Hopkinsville. This is part of the city’s goal of designating zoning allocations to dozens of unzoned areas.

During the July 1 Hopkinsville City Council meeting, Britton shared that 30 acres of undeveloped property along the roadway near the intersection of Fort Campbell Boulevard is proposed to have the B-4 distinction, which is Arterial Commercial District. 23 acres located across the street will also be assigned the same B-4 distinction.  This area includes where the new gas station is currently being developed.

Britton shared that these distinctions are in alignment with the comprehensive plan for the city and zoning patterns for new developments. Information from CDS details that the B-4 designation is intended for principal use of the land to be devoted to commercial establishments which cater specifically to motor vehicle-oriented trade.

Councilmembers approved the first vote of these rezoning designations; a final vote will take place during the next meeting in July.
