HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – 3 Brothers food truck is the latest addition to the culinary landscape of Christian County by delivering classic southern flavors. Owners Shawna Johnson and Kenneth Major are both natives of Hopkinsville, who recently got engaged.
The food truck dream began early. From an early age, Kenneth found himself in the kitchen preparing meals for his four younger siblings. It was here that his love affair with southern comfort food blossomed. Reflecting on his childhood Kenneth humorously remarked, “I was kind of like the daddy.”
Kenneth began construction of the truck back in 2018 and began serving delicious meals in 2019. However, his journey faced a major setback when he required a kidney transplant, leading to an extended hospital stay spanning a couple of years. Upon his recovery he met Shawna. The duo joined forces to resurrect Kenneth’s dream of running the food truck, breathing new life into their shared aspirations.
Serving up southern comfort and working together
3 Brothers brings the essence of southern comfort cuisine straight to customers hands. They are offering an array of classic dishes like chicken and waffles, gyros, pork chop sandwiches, street tacos, catfish and fries, and much more. “It’s all the stuff I enjoyed growing up,” Kenneth said. Together, the couple is dedicated to elevating the truck and expanding their culinary venture.
Outside of owning the food truck, the couple has full time jobs. They are students at Murray State and work in the Christian County Public School System, where they initially met.
“I really just love working and being with my best friend,” Kenneth said. “It doesn’t matter what we are doing as long as we are doing it together.” Shawna added that they make a good team not only when working on the food truck but in life.
In the future, Kenneth hopes to make the truck his full-time gig as he enjoys the freedom and the possibility of making 3 Brothers a household name. “I just love cooking good food,” he said.
Currently, the couple is in the process of making a Facebook page for their food truck, which will be available soon. Their latest event was at Hopkinsville Brewing Co. and on April 22, 3 Brothers will be at MLK Elementary.
