HOPKINSVILLE, KY (CHRISTIAN COUNTY NOW) – It’s planting season in Christian County, so gardeners can now utilize the seed library at the Hopkinsville-Christian County Library.
Gardeners can borrow seeds from the library as needed, and then save a portion the seeds from the grown plants to return to the library. This cycle ensures the seed library isn’t empty and gives people in the community access to a variety of seeds.
“Seed libraries are a way to have fun, while building a sense of community with fellow gardeners,” says the Hopkinsville Library website.
Even though borrowed seeds are being replenished, the library is reaching out to the community for assistance in keeping their seed library fully stocked. Seed donations can be made anytime between April 11-30 at the HCCPL front desk.
As an incentive, the library announced that people who donate seeds of any quantity will be entered in a raffle. The lucky winner will receive a mystery prize on May 1. For more information about the seed library, call 270-887-4262.
